Unity at 90,000

Visiting Sanford Stadium for a game last week was an experience I will not soon forget.
The crowd was, WOW! There were people everywhere. But when we got to our seats I experienced something that boggled my mind. Unity!
I have seen unity at a small level of high school game, even seen unity at a large event. But to have 90,000 people all about the same goal, cheering in unison was a sight to be seen.
The crowd was so unified that when they wanted to distract the other team with cheers it just happened. There was no planning, no leader, that I saw, just unity in the cause.
There was no racial issues, no gender issues, no social issues just unity.
People that have never met were unified in the cause. They exchanged high fives, hugs, and maybe a few kisses when things went well. And when things took a turn for the worse the crowd moaned together. When we were up, we were up together. When we were down, we were down together.

I wonder what life would be like if we were unified like this in our country, in our churches, and most importantly in our homes?

90,000 people

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend a Georgia Bulldog game. Wow! It was an interesting adventure. There were people everywhere. I saw a few things that caught my attention.

As we walked around everyone seemed happy. No one was upset about the traffic; it was almost an honor to be stuck in it. No one seemed to mind the crowd. No one was bothered by the noise of the crowd. No one was irritated about walking to the stadium. People shared time, food and company. Everyone was focused on one thing, Their Team Winning. And all this was before the game.
I think I could learn some things from this crowd of 90,000 plus.

WOW!!

There are some things I hear about in our world that I can ignore. BUT there are some things that just get me stirred up!
When a person with a platform uses racism to promote agendas. Racism has it roots in haterd and haterd stirs up strife (proverbs 10:12). So because some throw this word around so easily what they really do is stirr up strife in our community. And that is the last thing we need right now. What we need is unity!
To the leaders with a platform: Please do all you can to stirr up Unity in my Community not strife!
Lord please guides us with your wisdom

Thankful

We are very thankful and humbled by the people that are connected to our family. During a resent, somewhat crazy, moment when my daughter took a trip to the ER we saw favor through relationships. We are deeply thankful for caring, loving people. From the calls, prayers and visit you will always have a place in our lives.

Thank You !!

Football, Football

I love the game of Football. I so! look forward to my new experience at middle school ball. I so! look forward to following my rec. team North Henry Tigers. I look forward to working with football teams and speaking into a player’s life.
I hope my collage team can do something this year. (Notre Dame) I am excited that the NFL is handing out second chances. I love football!
I live within a mile of a local high school stadium and love to hear the band from my porch. I Love walking to the stadium with my family under the Friday night lights. I love this time of year.

Let us 2

I remember this hill we use to play on when I was much younger. We called it “Clay Mt.” for obvious reasons. There was also a vine we use to swing on that would go out from the hill and over a creek and back. It was a thrill! On one particular day a friend was swinging and at the pinnacle of the swing the vine broke. He came crashing into the creek. We all laughed and looked to make sure he was ok. The interesting thing was he held onto the vine all the way down.

Hebrews 10:23 gives us the second “Let us” and it is connected to hold fast. Thinking about this and the story of “Clay Mt.” I wonder how many things I am holding fast to that cannot support me. We hold fast to jobs, money, and even objects with hopes that they will bring us home safe. But, usually at the pinnacle, we get laid off, foreclosed on, and the car breaks down. We come crashing down and we feel like our lives are over.

It could be that we need to hold fast to something a little more stable. Let us hold fast to your confession of hope. The hope we find by following Christ. Knowing that no matter what happens He will never leave us. Knowing that even in the tough times of life something greater is being worked in us.
What are you holding fast to?

Let us

There are a few key thoughts I read the other day in the book of Hebrews.
Three different times in chapter ten the author says "let us" so Let us look at this for a moment.

The first "let us" is connected to the words draw near. Read in context you have the notion that it is talking about drawing near to G-d. This is something we need to do. A lot of times I want G-d to draw near to me. I sometimes beg for Him to come to where I am. But the truth is we need to learn how to draw close to Him. When I plead with Christ to come to me I turn the idea of “Christ Followers” into “Christ follows.” I actually request Him to follow me to one bad situation after another. However, if I was to draw near to Him, He would lead me into one good situation after another.

(One good way to draw near is reading and meditating on the scripture.)
